new photo blog

Just in case you didn't know I've got a new photography blog. That's right, and it's devoted to Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah photography!! So of course it will be full of fun pictures and an occasional witty remark. To view my new blog you can go to the new website located at Boston Mitzvah Photography and then click on Boston Mitzvah Blog at the top. Or go straight to it via Boston Mitzvah Blog. Of course I'll continue posting great photos here, but with a slant toward weddings.

Also, after a busy upcoming weekend I'm taking a break from events and hitting the road where I'll be yet again photographing, as I prepare for an upcoming exhibition of road photos. I'm looking at a theme like "Lonely Road". I've already racked up more than 15,000 miles across the states taking pictures and traveling the blue highways (no interstates please!). Do check out my art website for periodic updates (I've been a bit remiss on this of late): Castagna Art Studio.

wedding photographer

Being a wedding photographer means photographing in a host of different lighting and environmental scenarios. It means fast action and capturing the fun, life and spontaneous emotion of the moment as it passes by. That's why I love it! As you can see from the above pictures, all taken at Wachusett Mountain Resort, there are the details of the day, portraits, candids, dancing and of course the ceremony. All of these moments have to be watched for and captured. Together they reveal the personality and fun of the wedding couple.

wedding sunset

Sunsets are a great time to take a moment from the day and just look and enjoy. The above wedding sunset pictures were taken at Saphire Estate in Sharon Massachusetts. A key feature at the Saphire venue is there small beach which is just a short walk from the venue and affords a beautiful view.

wedding words!

It's great to hear what people are saying and I love to hear back from the brides and grooms once they've had a chance to take in all of the pictures from the wedding day. Here are a few recent comments:

"Thank you soooooooooooo much for the pictures!! They are GEORGEOUS! How do you make us look so good??!?!? I can't believe how quickly the night went by - thank goodness we have the pictures to look back on!"

"Thank you so much for taking so many wonderful pictures at our wedding. Anthony and I love each and every one of them. Also, you put together a fantastic wedding album. We love it! Thanks again for all your hard work. I will continue to tell people about you and your spectacular work."

"We thank you SO MUCH for being a HUGE part of our wedding day... You were exactly what we were looking for, and you even had the perfect attitude to handle my family! (and that's a compliment) haa - We will ABSOLUTELY recommend you to all of our friends getting married in the future, we enjoyed not only how you took pictures and your expertise, but also your company."

Grist Mill

The Grist Mill in Sudbury ranks high in the list of favorite wedding photo destinations. It's not as high as say the Boston Public Gardens but it's up there. It's easy to see why. Who could ask for a better setting and background to work with? This wedding was held at Martha-Mary Chapel just across the street. Of course the fact that the groom was a firefighter also made for some very interesting pictures!

along the lake

I like this wedding picture taken along the lake in Sharon Massachusetts. It was in the middle of the day so the sun was high in the sky. This made it necessary to use a golden reflector to throw some light into the shadows and even out the tones. The result was a great wedding picture of Marc and Heather who got married at the Saphire Estate in Sharon.

I'm currently booking for 2011 and 2012 so don't hesitate to give me a call or shoot my an email to discuss options for your wedding day! There are even a few remaining dates for 2010 - oh my!

wedding photography

We had a lot of fun at Wachusett Mountain this past weekend. Taking the chairlift up to the top of the mountain and really enjoying the scenery. To see more pictures from Bridget and Nick's wedding day go to Boston Wedding Gallery. Enjoy the view!

wedding shoes

I love these shoes! It's those special touches that make a wedding day or any event day stand out. Take these shoes for example. You got to love the bold yellow and black. And then to go hiking in them! C'mon that's what I call really cool! I'll post some photographs of our final mountain-top pictures in my next blog post as this weekend's wedding was held at Wachusett Mountain Ski Resort and was a lot of fun!

making up

I know what you are thinking: Fighting is not good for a healthy relationship. Well, don't tell that to Bridget and Nick as they met at the boxing rink, both taking lessons. So it was apropos that they should get announced at their reception wearing boxing gloves and robes! What a way to make an entrance. It literally took everyone by surprise and created a very large stir! So, my advice to couples about to get hitched: A fight now and then doesn't hurt the marriage, as long as you can make up after...
Stay tuned for some more wedding pictures of Bridget and Nick...
