Award-winning bridal photograph

The Bride of Gion is a photograph I took of a traditional buddhist bride in Kyoto Japan. The image is part of a series of prints exhibited at Rolly-Michaux Galleries from my Kyoto in its Season collection. The only portrait from the series, this picture was selected for its universal yet mysterious appeal. The Bride of Gion was recognized and awarded by Photographer's Forum Magazine.

Children add a powerful dynamic to a wedding day. Although I pride myself in being ready for whatever unfolds, it never ceases to surprise me the varied expressions and interactions that occur throughout the day when children are involved.

Photography art market

I recently attended a Day of Contemporary Photography at the MFA of Boston. It was a great experience which allowed me to reconsider my own photography and give it new direction. One of the handouts included an article entitled Altered States by Richard B. Woodward. This article was published in ArtNews back in March of 2006 and I found it to be a treasure trove of information on the modern history and direction of contemporary photography. One can view the article at ArtNews: Altered States.
