Zen Line

Zen Line, Robert Castagna, edition of 15

Zen Line was an image taken at Ginkaku-ji (Temple of the Silver Pavilion) in Kyoto. Below is a description of the image and what it means, taken from my journal:

To the left of the line is the start of a garden, mysterious, still and tranquil. To the right is the foot path that all travel. The line represents the artist's path. A path that borders on the spiritual. It is a metaphor revealing the balance an artist must take: to walk, seeing the beauty.

That's the Zen Line.

Boston/Kyoto Sister-Cities

Tatami, Robert Castagna, edition of 15

Kyoto and Boston have been sister-cities since 1959, Kyoto being Boston's first sister-city formed only a few years after the national program began. The 27 images that make up the exhibition The Art of Mystery, currently on display at Rolly-Michaux Gallery celebrate the culture and beauty of Kyoto.

Freelance writer Chris Klein attended the opening reception at the gallery and researched the sister-city program. View his write up at HubTrotter, blogging about travel in Boston and Beyond.
