Candid photography is a skill requiring observation, prediction of coming events and the ability to remain relatively unobtrusive. One of my favorite definitions of "candid" as it pertains to photography is found on OneLook and reads, "informal or natural; especially caught off guard or unprepared." Here the flower girl is caught as she is about to enter the church. Her off-guard expression is priceless.

Haiku and photography

While traveling in Japan photographing for my recent exhibition entitled The Art of Mystery, Kyoto in its Season I wrote and read haiku. In fact haiku became the central theme to my series of work. One of the haiku that I wrote in my favorite Kyoto cafe was recently published on tinywords.
